Since graduating for the Langara Journalism program, I’ve had the opportunity to write for various news publications. Here are some samples of news articles I’ve written.
- The Benefits of Investing in Mid-Tier and Emerging Mid-Tier Gold Companies
- Investing in the Fastest Growing Gold Producer in West Africa
At the Investing News Network I covered various commodities including gold, uranium, oil, gas, iron, potash, phosphate, aluminum, tungsten, vanadium, cannabis and tin.
Uranium was of particular interest to both myself and many of our readers, as it is an important source of energy and is impacted by a variety of geopolitical issues. Here are a few of the articles I wrote about the uranium space:
- Uranium Outlook 2016: Supply Deficit in the Cards
- Top Canadian Uranium Resources Held by Junior Miners
- Uranium News: China Connects Reactor; Uranium Resources, Anatolia Energy Get Merger Approval

Oil and natural gas were also very popular, despite the low price environment faced by companies within the oil industry. Here are some of the articles I wrote about oil and gas:

The fast-growing marijuana industry was another interesting topic to write about, what with the emergence of the recreational marijuana market in the United States and the newly elected Liberal governments pledge to legalize marijuana in Canada. Learning about the medical benefits of cannabis and speaking with experts on the topic was a great experience. Here are a few article I wrote on the topic:

- 91 Percent of Australians in Favor of Legal Medical Marijuana
- Cannabis Companies Using ‘Good Bugs’ to Protect Plants from Pests
- Hemp and the Pet Industry
- Different Ways to Consume Medical Cannabis
- How to Invest in Medical Cannabis
Potash and phosphate were also interesting commodities to cover, as they are essential to keep up with the growing world population, which is expected to reach over 9 billion by 2050. It has become evident that the world needs to produce more food to keep up with the growing number of mouths. However, the increase in people also means further urbanization and therefore, less farmland to work with, meaning that farmers must increase crop yields. Here are some articles I have written about potash and phosphate:
- Potash and Phosphate Companies Securing Funds Despite Difficult Market
- TSX- and TSXV-listed Potash Companies
- Types of Potash: What is the Difference Between SOP and MOP?
- Execs Weigh in on Macquarie’s Potash Price Outlook
Commodities like iron ore, tin and vanadium haven’t been faring well in recent years, but it was still important to keep investors up-to-date on each commodity when interesting news surfaced. Here are some of the articles I wrote on the less popular markets:
- Low Iron Ore Price May Take Casualties in Labrador
- Iron Ore Price Slides to Three-month Low on Oversupply, Low Steel Demand
- How Illegal Mining in Indonesia Affects the Tin Price
